This past weekend my husband and I had a jam packed schedule. We had a friend's wedding celebration downtown, a dinner party another night and tickets to the opera on Sunday afternoon. Between all of that, we squeezed in two brunch meals and both at places we had never been together before.
I love a good meal like any other person, but brunch is my absolute favorite. I think because it usually involves good company and a long, leisurely meal where no one feels rushed. We checked out Harry's Coffee Shop in La Jolla on Saturday and was pleasantly surprised by their expansive breakfast/lunch menu. My husband had been there as a young kid with his grandpa, so it was fun for him to revisit the diner and see how it changed. I recently heard that it was also named one of the best diners in the U.S.!
On Sunday, we dined at Encore Champagne Bar in downtown San Diego before the opera. With bottomless mimosas and a Monte Cristo made like no other, I was in food heaven. What really caught my eye was the extravagent decor throughout the restaurant; mostly all-white plush furniture with beautiful, dripping teal-colored chandeliers. I really wish I had taken more photos! After talking to the Sous Chef, I verified my claim that this restaurant/lounge was designed to attract a female clientele. I know we will be back to both of these restaurants and I'll be adding them to my own personal brunch list. Cheers!
