Little Things

Let's be real for a minute: life is always going to be busy and sometimes we forget to stop and smell the roses. I'm probably the biggest offender of this practice and want to commit to taking out some extra time out to be thankful for the small things, as well as the bigger things. Here are a few things I'm most thankful for recently:
  • The ability to live in one of the most beautiful and warmest cities in America. I know a lot of people make this generalization about where they live, but I do truly feel blessed to be able to walk or ride my bike down the street to where I took the photo above. I have never been one to embrace the cold, so when I was able to move from Northern California to sunny San Diego right after college, I jumped at the chance. Eight years later I do not regret one moment of that decision. Although I get homesick for family and friends at times, at least I know they are in the same state.
  • The fact that I now have a job that I can see myself growing and loving as a career. It's taken me the past seven years in the job market to make it where I am now and I really love what I do. It gives me the chance to be challenged and be creative on a daily basis. I've always said, if you have to work your whole life, do something you love!
  • And a couple small things: the iPad Mini my husband bought me as a Christmas gift, the fresh flowers in our home on a weekly basis and my Sugar Paper planner that I've gotten a lot of use out of this year thus far.
What are you thankful for? I'd love to hear what has been on your mind recently!
