Perfect Sugar Cookies

Since Christmas time I've been working on perfecting my sugar cookies and I have to share that this past weekend I had great success! Using this recipe, I made martini-shaped cookies for a viewing party of The Bachelor season finale (BTW did you watch it? Crazy!). I think the secret is to actually leave the dough in the refrigerator for a minimum of 2 hours (overnight is best if possible) and then roll the dough out. In the past I've been too impatient and tried sticking the dough in the freezer, which did not work out too well. The dough would keep sticking to the roller and drove me crazy.  I also used a recipe and how-to video for royal icing found here and nailed it on the first try. Needless to say, I'll be making these yummy treats all year long!
